What is the difference between a continuity plan and a contingency plan?
The business continuity plan (BCP) defines how the whole organization keeps operating during a disruption. The disaster recovery plan (DRP), or technical contingency plan, covers how to restore systems and data. They are designed together to meet the same goal.
What are RTO and RPO?
RTO is the maximum time the business tolerates with a service down. RPO is the maximum amount of data it can lose, measured in time. They are set with the business and verified in timed tests.
What are BaaS and DRaaS?
BaaS (Backup as a Service) is data backup run as a service. DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service) replicates systems so they can be brought up at another site when the primary fails. They are chosen based on the RTO and RPO your operation needs.
How do I know my backup can really be restored?
Only by restoring it. We validate that each backup is recoverable and run timed tests and drills, with evidence of the RTO and RPO achieved.
